Clinic Work
The Clinic currently consists of four partners, one assistant and three getGP Registrar. All medical practitioners are vocationally registered and currently includes one female doctor. The clinic has a practice manager, four reception staff members on at any one time and three practice nurses.

Appointments are every 15 minutes (however, registrars are booked 3 per hour initially).  A wide range of patient ages and conditions gives a refreshing variation to the medical problems encountered.  Registrars are encouraged to establish their own patient base and to handover to a subsequent registrar.  Supervision is always available and regular clinical meetings are held.  Rep lunches are held on a Monday and doctors' meetings on a monthly basis.

The practice encourages the ongoing medical education via attending educational meetings run by GPA South Gippsland, satellite broadcasting meetings and a variety of local Continuing Professional Development meetings.  Being close to Melbourne there are an endless variety of programs and short courses available as well as the expanding role of distance education.

Hours / After Hours
There is a great deal of flexibility with the working hours of the medical centre. Currently the partners work approximately 8 sessions per week with one full day off and the associate works 6 to 8 sessions per week. On call is 1:8 first on call weekend days (weekends are split between 2 doctors) and on average one on call evening per week. Our doctors have six to eight weeks’ holidays at a time convenient to the practice and with our current numbers we are able to cover days off without the need for looking for locum coverage.

The Town

Korumburra is a small rural town of approximately 4,500 people situated in the hills of South Gippsland.  The main industry of the area is dairy farming and the town largely exists to support the farming community.  The town's industry sector has recently gained a boost with Gippsland Group Training (apprentices & traineeships) building premises for training of apprentices within the area and Burra foods (a dairy product company) receiving large grants to increase production and export which will see employment numbers increase in the area, which should have a flow on effect.  Tourism in the area is based around the Coal Creek Historical Park, which is a re-creation of the coal-mining era that gave Korumburra it’s origin and more recently a tourist railway development and historical walk have been added to the tourist armory.

Coal Creek Korumburra

The is a great international choice of dining, with Indian, Thai, Italian and Chinese cuisines on offer.

Facilities for Children
A well established, registered childcare centre called Birralee is situated in the town.  There are also play groups for 0- 5year olds, Three year old kinder for 3 to 4 year olds and Pre school.  There are two Primary Schools – State Primary school and St Joseph’s Catholic School, and the option of four secondary schools, Korumburra Secondary College, Newhaven College on Phillip Island, Mary Mackillop Catholic College in Leongatha (Catholic) and South Coast Christian College Leongatha campus (bus services runs from Korumburra to the schools).
