Emergencies and After Hours
Our doctors provide an emergency service at the Urgent Care Centre at Wonthaggi Hospital. Patients may be referred to Grabham Consulting room where that is appropriate. Presently, after 6.00pm this service is an on-call service however, an evening clinic located at the hospital consulting room from 6.00pm to 10.00pm is planned to begin in 2006.
Appointments
All consultations, except emergencies, are by appointment. If you have multiple or complex concerns to discuss with the doctor please ask the receptionist to make a longer appointment. This reduces the delays for all patients.
Home Visits
Available for regular patients of the clinic who are unable to attend because of serious incapacity. Please note that home visits are not made because patients have transport difficulties or where the ailment is considered minor. Home visits are generally confined to a radius of 10km from the clinic.
Contacting your doctor
You can contact doctors of the practice by telephone during normal hours. A message will be taken when the doctor is busy consulting. Emergency calls will be dealt with immediately.
Results and Prescriptions
Please call between 10.00am and 4.00pm for script requests and results. Note that charges apply for script requests and an appointment will be necessary if you have not seen the doctor recently.
Fees and Charges
Our Practice
Pensioners, Healthcare Cardholders and persons under 16 are bulk billed upon presentation of a valid Medicare Card. Other persons are billed privately and there is an out of pocket expense. Our receptionist can advise you of our present fee and out of pocket amount. There is a discount where the full fee is paid on the day.
After hours consultations incur higher gap payments and will be privately billed if pension card, healthcare card and/or Medicare Card details are not provided at the time of the consultation.
X-Ray and Pathology
These services are billed privately by the providers. Please note that there may be substantial out of pocket expenses especially for after hours services.

There are a range of visiting specialists or specialists located nearby. These include: Dr P Ashton (Gynaecology), Mr G Boag (Ear, Nose and Throat), Dr A Clarke (Urologist), Ms A Poynton (Audiologist), Mr C Jones (Orthopaedics), Dr C Smith (Paediatrician), Mr C Varley (Physician). Our GP-Anaesthetists assist these and other specialists at the local hospital.
Medical Students
This practice supports medical student training for students both Monash and Melbourne Universities. Students undergoing training may be present during patient consultations. Your consent to the presence of a student doctor will be sought prior to the consultation.
