NPS works with health professionals, consumers, Government and industry to improve the health of all Australians through Quality Use of Medicines (QUM).

 

NPS has a field force of more than 150 NPS Facilitators working in Divisions and Networks of General Practice around Australia.

 

Their role includes:

  • providing one on one educational visits to general practitioners to give them the opportunity to discuss current issues in therapeutics
  • conducting small group case based discussions with doctors, pharmacists and practice nurses
  • promoting and supporting QUM activities through the local division or network of general practice.

My role as NPS Administrator Coordinator is to provide an administration service to the NPS Program and in particular to the Division's NPS Facilitator.  This will include organising educational sessions with GPs around the therapeutic programs that are on offer from NPS, eg. "Opioid therapy in chronic pain:  use a planned approach".
